Salir del clóset: A Free Spanish Workbook for Support and Reflection

Coming out is deeply personal. For some, it brings relief, connection, and freedom. For others, it may feel complicated, emotional, or unsafe depending on their family, community, or current situation.
That is why East Coast Mental Wellness created “Salir del clóset: Un cuaderno de apoyo y reflexión” — a free Spanish-language workbook designed to help LGBTQ+ individuals reflect at their own pace.
This resource is not about rushing anyone into a decision. It is a gentle space to explore who you are, who feels safe, and whether, when, or how you may want to share your identity with others.

What This Workbook Helps With

This workbook includes thoughtful prompts and exercises to help you reflect on:

✓ Your identity, feelings, and personal language
✓ Whether now feels like the right time to share
✓ Who feels safe, supportive, or uncertain in your life
✓ How to pause and think through emotional and physical safety
✓Ways to prepare for a coming out conversation
✓ How to care for yourself after different reactions
✓ Supportive reminders for difficult days
✓ Ongoing support and crisis resources

The workbook also emphasizes that there is no deadline, no “right” answer, and no obligation to share your identity with anyone before you feel ready.

Who This Resource Is For

This workbook may be helpful if you:

✓ Are questioning or exploring your identity
✓ Know who you are but are unsure whether to share it
✓ Want to think through safety before coming out
✓ Need words to help prepare for a conversation
✓ Are looking for a private, affirming space to reflect
✓ Prefer a Spanish-language mental health and LGBTQ+ support resource

You can complete the workbook alone, bring it into therapy, or use it as a starting point for a conversation with someone you trust.

A Gentle Reminder

You do not owe anyone an explanation of who you are. Your identity is valid whether or not someone else knows about it.
You are allowed to take your time. You are allowed to wait. You are allowed to protect your peace. And you are allowed to choose the words, timing, and people that feel safest for you.

Looking for Support?

East Coast Mental Wellness provides affirming therapy for LGBTQ+ individuals and communities, including support in both English and Spanish.
