MICHAEL MACEDO, LICSW HE/HIM/HIS
My name is Mike, and I’m a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW).
I have several years of experience working in a variety of different settings, from PHP/IOP to schools, EOS, and outpatient practices. I have worked with individuals and groups of all ages with Autism profiles, Anxiety Disorders, and Mood Disorders, substance use, and Trauma Disorders. I also have experience working with adolescents and adults in the LGBTQ+ Community, as well as undergraduate/graduate students, especially student-athletes, who juggle many different responsibilities, and can experience a variety of stressors. As a former student-athlete myself, I understand both the gifts and challenges that can come with managing a busy schedule in this role.
I have experience utilizing a variety of different treatment modalities, including CBT, ACT, Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Treatment, Motivational Interviewing, Reality Therapy, as well as Social-Emotional Learning.
I embrace a client-centered, and strengths-based locus of treatment that is solution-focused, and meets the client where they are at. I believe in always taking a Systems Theory and Reality Theory approach to treatment, as well as applying a heavy emphasis on Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction to help individuals in their journey towards self-acceptance and self-actualization.
In addition to my work at ECMW, I’m also an Outpatient Clinician at Social Sparks, Inc. I’m also an Autism Advocate, guest speaker, and writer/blogger on various Online platforms and virtual podcasts.
In my spare-time, I’m an avid long-distance runner at a competitive level. I run in road races for a Boston-based track club, and also enjoy cycling and hiking. I always encourage regular exercise and outdoor time to anyone who I work with, in the hopes that everyone can experience the healing benefits of a calm mind and body, and being present in nature.
I earned a Master’s in Clinical Social Work from Rhode Island College in 2016. I also hold a B.A. In Psychology from Rhode Island College as well (2012).
Tony Costagliola, LICSW He/Him/His
My treatment approach is a reflection of what I’d seek out in a therapist; someone whose methods are provocative and challenging, yet non-judgmental and practical. My therapeutic process promotes insightful thinking, problem-solving, and meaningful behavior change.
Therapy sessions focus on enhancing perceptive, self-regulation, and resiliency skills. My clinical approach involves the use of CBT, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and the wealth of wisdom I’ve accrued from clients themselves.
I specialize in work with adult and young adult struggles through anxiety, depression, family conflict, self-esteem issues, trauma, acceptance, and life-changing events.
In addition to seeing clients at ECMW, I work as a therapist at AIDS Care Ocean State with a focus on LGBTQ issues and chronic illness management. I completed my undergraduate work at Brown University and received a Master’s in Social Work from Rhode Island College.
