Our Therapists

Meet Our Team

Our approach here at East Coast Mental Wellness differs in that we let you choose your therapist, giving you the say in who you want to work with. In your initial 15-minute consultation, you will have the opportunity to meet one of our therapists and decide if they are a good fit for you to move forward with. If not, our team will work to reconnect you with a different therapist until you feel comfortable to schedule a consultation and get your therapy journey started. Meet our therapists in-person at our  Providence, RI office and online with our telehealth services

Caitlin is originally from Budd, Lake, New Jersey. She is currently a Resident Assistant and has been for three years. She is also an Ambassador at Johnson & Wales University, and she worked with perspective students and families on a daily basis. She has an abundance of experience working with children, adults, teenagers, and little kids. She is new to this type of work and is just super thrilled to get her feet wet and start working with clients! She is passionate about all forms of work and is willing to learn!

Caitlin is extremely interested in learning more about other people and diverse clients. She enjoys helping people become their best selves and change for the better. She believes that everyone is unique in their own way and should be able to express themselves freely without judgement. But a few things about her are that she is extraverted, personable, friendly, and a great listener. She is also always full of energy!

ABIGAIL KVALE SHE/HER/HERS
Location: Providence Office

Abigail is a student counselor working on her Masters of Social Work. Abigail has
been a case manager in the mental health field for the past few years and has
experience working mostly with teenagers and youth. Abigail’s approach is rooted in
empathy, active listening, and a genuine commitment to fostering growth and healing.

KATHERINE CLARK SHE/HER/HERS

Location: Providence Office

Hi, I am Katie Clark, a Master of Social Work candidate at Boston University, pursuing my passion for mental health and client-centered care. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of New Hampshire, where I developed a strong foundation in understanding human behavior and emotional well-being.

In addition to my work at ECMW, I have worked the last few years as a Mental Health Specialist at McLean Hospital, providing direct care to adults in an inpatient psychiatric setting. Throughout my career, I have worked with individuals of all ages–from infants to adolescents to adults and older adults–as well as their families, supporting them through a range of mental health challenges. My experience includes crisis intervention, emotional support, and trauma-informed care in both hospital and community-based settings.

My approach to therapy is rooted in empathy, trust, and collaboration. I strive to create a safe and supportive space where clients feel; heard, understood, and empowered to navigate life’s challenges. By tailoring my approach to each person’s unique needs, I aim to help clients build resilience, develop coping skills, and work toward personal growth and healing.

RACHEL PLAYE SHE/THEY
Location: Providence Office

Rachel is a graduate student pursuing her master’s degree in clinical counseling with a specialization in holistic clinical mental health counseling at Salve Regina University. Her favorite areas of study are somatic, gestalt, CBT, existential, and feminist theory. As your counselor, Rachel will hold space for you and employ active and empathetic listening. She believes all people are capable of healing and strengthening their resilience. When not working with clients or pursuing her studies, Rachel can be found out in her garden or hiking.

ALICIA LANE SHE/HER/HERS
I am a current graduate student at Johnson & Wales Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. I received my bachelor’s degree in fine arts from RISD in 2011, and have worked in film for the last fifteen years.

Working collaboratively with people and their stories as a filmmaker is what drew me to the field of mental health. I believe in the power of our own stories, experiences and perspectives to help us identify strengths and work through our problems. Personal areas of interest include helping clients navigate relationships, life transitions, grief, depression, identity issues, substance use, mood disorders, LGBTQIA+ issues and trans affirming care

JENNIFER DEGNAN SHE/HER/HERS
Location: Providence Office

Jennifer graduated with a Bachelor’s in Psychological Science from Austin Peay State University. She is pursuing a Master of Art in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University. She will be graduating in Summer 2025. She has been a registered behavior technician for three years with concentrated experience working with children with autism spectrum disorder. Jennifer has great interest in Adlerian therapy, person centered, and cognitive behavior therapy. She believes that each client is unique and aims to provide a positive and warm environment for clients. She looks forward to working with diverse clients and has a great interest in ADHD, depression, self-esteem, and anxiety.
